Thank You for Voting
The Goffstown School Board would like to thank all those who voted in last week's elections. We are in the process of revisiting our budget and making cuts as directed by the voters. The SAU Administration, Building Administration and School Board will work collaboratively to make reductions that are appropriate to the work that we strive to do and to maintain the programming and services that are vital to the success that we have seen in our schools. Please attend school board meetings or review those meeting at www.pegondemand.com for additional information.
The board would like to clarify misinformation that is circulating through the public. At its last school board meeting, the Board did revise its policy on public comment (policy BEDH) however, it seems that the revisions were misinterpreted by some to have disallowed participation by the public entirely. This is not the case. The School Board continues to welcome appropriate feedback from the public during the "Public Comment" time at the beginning of our meetings. To review the revised policy, please visit our website under Goffstown School Board, District Policies.
As noted previously by the Goffstown News and Union Leader, our schools are proud of our NECAP test scores- with GHS scoring within the top tier of high schools in the state. The Board would also like to acknowledge the role that athletics plays in the lives of our students. The Varsity Boy's wrestling team won the Division II Title. Congratulations, boys! Furthermore, the Varsity Boys Basketball team finished out a wonderful season with a defeat by Oyster River in the first round of playoffs. Well done! Lastly, hats off to the drama department for their incredible performances of Phantom of the Opera. They did a terrific job. If you haven't seen any of the student athletic games or performances, you should. You are missing out on a wonderful experience.
In addition to our usual work, the Board is looking forward to a retreat in the months ahead during which time we will be setting Board goals for the future. We hope that by doing so we will better align our work with the public's goals for the district's future.
