End of School Year Notes
The end of the school year is always a very busy time in the District. As the school year draws to a close the Board is finalizing its work for the year, all of our schools prepare to send students off to the next level as well as welcome new students in.
One of the pieces the School Board has worked on is the adoption of a new Mission Statement and Goals. As they were drafted, we took great care to ensure that they reflected our mission and vision. They are as follows:
Mission Statement: The Goffstown School Board is committed to excellence in education that enables our students to achieve their maximum potential.
Goals:
- To forge a partnership with students, staff, parents, and community to advance student learning.
- To provide educational opportunities that emphasize high standards, address academic achievement, and develop the work ethic, character, and civic responsibility of all students.
- To ensure that the school district has the financial and human resources necessary for excellence in student achievement.
- To provide and maintain appropriate facilities to meet the needs of the 21st century learner.
- To foster an understanding with constituents of the nature, role, and needs of contemporary education.
- To build a collaborative partnership with the community, which instills pride, involvement, and interest in our schools.
We look forward to working closely with the administration, staff and community as we move towards the realization of this mission and these goals.
Last Thursday marked the annual Commencement Exercises of GHS. The day was celebrated with a Senior Barbeque of hot dogs and hamburgers prepared by members of the Dunbarton, New Boston and Goffstown School Boards, followed by the awarding of 242 diplomas at the graduation ceremony held that evening. We are proud of the members of the Class of 2011 for their hard work and achievements during their time with the Goffstown School District and wish them well on all of their future endeavors.
This week, MVMS holds its promotion ceremony for the 298 members of the eighth grade class. As they go forward, they do so knowing that they’ve attended 1 of only 8 accredited middle schools in the State (of approximately 74). We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate this class on this milestone and wish them good luck on their upcoming High School Career.
The Goffstown School Board does not meet during the months of July or August. We return to our regularly scheduled meetings in September. For more information on our meeting dates, times, or agenda, please visit our website at www.goffstown.k12.nh.us/sb/
