Information about our Spam Filter
Spam accounts for 77% of all e-mail on the Internet. To combat this nuisance SAU#19 utilizes a filter that tries to identify spam before gets to your mailbox. Email that the filter rates as spam is redirected to a "Junk Mail" folder on the server. To review what is in this folder users need to log on to their webmail accounts. From there users can either delete the email or transfer it to another mailbox.
Sometimes student (and parent) email can look like spam to the filter (bad spelling, run on sentences, extremely short sentences, attachments without messages, etc.) To rectify this we have set up two filter bypass rules that you can use. Any message with the following phrases in the subject area of the email will be ignored by the filter: "homework assignment" or "parent of" (as in "John Smith's homework assignment" or "Message from the parent of John Smith"). Students and parents: Please use these phrases to guarantee delivery.
