 April 12, 2017

Hello,

Finally, we have some spring weather!  Our classes have been so happy to be outside enjoying the fresh air and the playground!

Tuesday, April 18th, School Resource Officer Jackie Pelletier from the Goffstown Police Department will be talking about Stranger Danger with our kindergarten and 4-year-old classes, in a presentation geared to our age level.

On May 2nd, Lindsay and Her Puppet Pals will be performing here in assemblies provided by GLSP, our parent teacher group.  We thank GLSP for their generosity.  Lindsay does a wonderful show, perfect for this age group.  We are so excited to have her back again!

Don't forget, on May 1st we begin our extended day schedule that will continue for the rest of the school year.  The doors will open for the morning session at 8:00, and class will officially begin at 8:30.  Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:15 and preschool students will be dismissed five minutes earlier, at 11:10, as usual.  The doors will open for the afternoon session at 12:15, and class will officially start at 12:30, as usual.  Afternoon dismissal will be 15 minutes later, at 3:15, with preschool being released 5 minutes earlier, at 3:10.  This means the extra half-hour each day will be devoted entirely to instructional time, with 15 minutes added to each session.

Kindergarten registration for next year is ongoing!  If you haven't already, please get registration paperwork in as soon as possible.  See below for more information.  An information night for parents of incoming kindergartners will be held on May 17th.  More information will be sent to parents of registered students in April.

Kindergarten is a half-day program. The morning session runs from 8:45 to 11:15 am, and the afternoon session runs from 12:30 to 3:00 pm Monday through Friday following the Goffstown School District calendar. Parents will be able to indicate their preference for AM or PM session on the enrollment paperwork. If parent requests exceed session capacity, a lottery will be used to determine those students who will be placed in the session.

AM transportation to the school is available to kindergarten students via their neighborhood bus. There is no mid-day transportation provided by the school district. However for those parents needing extended care, several community day-care providers do offer transportation mid-day to and from their programs. PM students may take advantage of their neighborhood bus for transportation home at the end of the day.

The Glen Lake School provides a learning environment that enables children to acquire cognitive, social, emotional, and motor skills that are the foundation for all future learning. Such an environment is based upon the following beliefs:

Volunteer Fingerprinting

FingerprintSAU #19 continues to host fingerprinting opportunities throughout the school year on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Volunteers do not need to make an appointment during these open times, just check in with the receptionist at the SAU office. You will need a photo identification and a personal check or money order for $20.75 made payable to State of NH - Criminal Records (which per-Goffstown policy can be reimbursed once you document five hours of volunteer time). Cash payment will no longer be accepted.
