Gerri St. GelaisNovember 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It’s hard to believe that the first trimester will be over on November 30th. You will receive information from your child’s teacher on setting up your Parent-Teacher Conference, which will occur on Friday, December 8th. This is a good way of finding out how your child has adjusted to school after the first trimester and is progressing academically, socially and behaviorally.

Here are several things you can do to make your Parent-Teacher Conference productive and pleasant.

Ask questions – the more specific the better. Examples: Does Billy have friends? Follow directions? Know the letters and numbers he/she is supposed to know?
Share information. Listen as the teacher tells you what your child is like in the classroom. Then tell her about his/her behavior at home, including likes, dislikes, habits, and worries.
Work together. If there’s a problem, discuss your ideas. Ask what you can do to help.
Support Learning. Ask the teacher for ways to encourage your child’s learning at home.
Share positive messages. At home, tell your child something good about the teacher and the classroom. Example: “Mrs. Smith has such a friendly voice. I also thought your classroom looked very cheerful.”
Important: Can’t make your appointment? It’s a good idea to call and reschedule. The parent-teacher conference can set the stage for a wonderful school year.

Volunteer Fingerprinting

FingerprintSAU #19 continues to host fingerprinting opportunities throughout the school year on the first Wednesday of each month from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Volunteers do not need to make an appointment during these open times, just check in with the receptionist at the SAU office. You will need a photo identification and a personal check or money order for $20.75 made payable to State of NH - Criminal Records (which per-Goffstown policy can be reimbursed once you document five hours of volunteer time). Cash payment will no longer be accepted.
