The National School Lunch program started in 1946 as a national reaction to the nutritional status of the new recruits for the armed services. Since then the National program has undergone several changes in regulations surrounding nutrition, bookkeeping, sanitation and the types of equipment used in the kitchens. We continue to work within those regulations to meet the national and local goals of creating a student centered, nutritionally centered and financially independent program.
Our Culinary Team's goal is to provide our customers with a fabulous meal to help them reach their educational potential and good health! The School Cafes offer breakfast before school and lunch daily with both meals meeting or exceeding the USDA nutrition goals. The meals include whole grain bread items, fresh fruits and vegetables daily, low-fat or skim milk choices and lean protein options. We encourage every customer to take a complete meal which includes a fruit or vegetable along with 2 other food groups (protein, milk, or bread item). We have been researching new recipes and items that we hope you will enjoy! If you have any suggestions please pass those along to our team.
